New York, NY (February 13, 2014) - The design firm GH+A, with design studios in Montreal, QC and Detroit, MI, is the proud recipient of the Retail Design Institute (RDI) First Prize for the interior design of the Dining Terrace at Richmond Centre. RDI announced the winners of the 2013 International Store Design Awards at an evening gala at the Times Center near Times Square in New York City.
Located in the space of a former multiplex cinema on the upper level of the shopping centre, the Dining Terrace's mission was to evoke restaurant quality environment thereby elevating the mall dining experience to a new level. The tenant mix would offer a unique combination of national chains and local restaurateurs who would venture into their first quick-service operation. The dining terrace boasts specialized seating for select tenants, stand-alone kiosks for others, and a sleek modern style across all, the variety. The varied seating layouts support a dynamic customer experience.
In adherence to Cadillac Fairview's ''GREEN AT WORK'' initiatives program, recycled and reclaimed indigenous wood from Vancouver Island and recycled chairs made from PET bottles were used. To preserve the natural light throughout the Dining Terrace, and to ensure an environmentally sustainable mission, seven LED skylights were positioned throughout the space. The skylights have been equipped with daylight intensity LED cove lights to mimic natural light on the frequently grey West Coast days.
