FFR Merchandising, Inc. has acquired Pexco LLC’s Chicago retail display and commercial extrusion business and manufacturing operation, combining the experience and strength of two in-store merchandising market leaders with a shared focus on innovation and customer service.
The acquisition will expand FFR’s capabilities and U.S. manufacturing capacity. In turn, the company’s retail and merchandising customers will benefit from reduced lead times for and greater access to new product solutions for point-of-purchase retail displays and original equipment commercial components.
FFR has been a leading provider of Total Retail Solutions ® since 1962. The company has evolved into a value-added supplier of retail merchandising and loss prevention solutions for customers across a wide variety of end markets. Stan Burson, President and CEO of FFR, said the purchase of Pexco’s Chicago operation is the latest step in the company’s ongoing efforts to provide customers with high-impact products and services for their businesses.
“This acquisition allows FFR to serve our customers even better, delivering more solutions, faster,” said Burson. “It also demonstrates our continued commitment to being the industry’s first choice for innovative merchandising, loss prevention, shrink management and labor reduction solutions.”
For nearly 50 years, Pexco LLC (formerly Bunzl, Filtrona and Porth Plastics), a world-class extrusion manufacturer, has specialized in designing and producing extruded sign holders and merchandising products for store shelving, fixtures and custom displays, as well as extrusions for specialty commercial applications. Neil Shillingford, CEO of Pexco, indicates that the point-of-purchase sector is no longer strategic to its core specialty extrusion business and believes its retail display products, services and culture are a natural fit with FFR.
“FFR has long been regarded as a focused leader in the retail display industry and, like Pexco, is dedicated to providing superior customer service and products to its core strategic segments,” he noted. “Employees from our Chicago operation and point-of-purchase extruded products teams look forward to joining the FFR family and bringing to customers in the Retail industry an expanded range of in-store merchandising solutions that can help them enhance customer engagement and drive sales.”
During the next 6 months, Pexco’s manufacturing plant in Chicago, its retail display products team and Chicago commercial business will transition to FFR Merchandising, Inc.
